Ulli

...captivates everyone and makes not only the guitar burn!
Ulli was infected with psychobilly in the early 80s. Not a phase, but an attitude to life that developed in the small town of Gifhorn in Lower Saxony and is still valid today.

In the Braunschweig scene at that time, a witch's cauldron was bubbling, from which a new band bubbled out every week to conquer the world.
So he founded the psycho-trash band "Testy Scamps" with a friend, who were able to gain their first experience with gigs in the clubs in the area.
After some back and forth, this formation disbanded.

Not long after that, the "Einsamen Stinktieren", a punk band from Gifhorn, asked to play. The bass player of "The Testy Scamps" was already the bass player of the "Einsamen Stinktieren" and Ulli joined them as a second guitarist. An incredible time had begun. The two years with the Lonely Skunks was a time with many gigs in clubs and at festivals, beer and many experiences and friendships that still shape him today.

The move to Kiel at the beginning of the 90s to study was musically pretty lukewarm at first.
New contacts were made and strange parties attended. In the long run, the formation "King Punish and the Trashcans" came into being.
Many gigs followed, among others with "The Meteors", "The Raymen" and a small Eastern European tour together with the Hungarian band "The Silvershine".
The musical orientation and the very different contributions of the band members led, diplomatically speaking, to an increased need for discussion. Which eventually led to the final break-up.

At the end of the day, after a long odyssey, he has returned to his musical home with "The SurfAnauts".....
Otherwise: ...has his Latin knowledge from his Asterix collection and likes to become a diva when there is nothing to eat!

Lisa

...responsible for the vibrations and all

too happy to set the pace!

In the beginning was self-study of classical music on the guitar, in southern Germany,
near Lake Constance.
But that wasn't enough: a bass was needed!
Her preference for vintage instruments was the basis and prerequisite for her search. She found what she was looking for at

Matsumoku including the original case.
With the purchase of the Aria bass, the connection to Ulli was made.
Without any previous experience in working in a band but with a lot of assertiveness, will and
Lisa is solely responsible for the fact that "The SurfAnauts" exist at all.
In the meantime she is like an "old hand" in the rehearsal room and on stage. She is in charge of the band's
back office of the band and brings structure to the bunch.
Her trade includes grumbling as well as her absolute ear and, last but not least, a sense for potential song ideas.
sense for potential song ideas.
Thus, the band has THE member who is more than one hundred percent behind the fortunes and
and the constant development of "The SurfAnauts".

Otherwise: ....when she has nothing to complain about, something is missing or she is sick! And her bass is never too quiet!

Christian

...the sensitive soul
amongst the woodcutters...

Having played in what feels like 20 billion bands and performed on stage everywhere from Flensburg to Liverpool, Christian finally found a band that’s had what feels like 20 billion drummers: The SurfAnauts! That certainly makes sense! They say all good things come in threes, but in this case it’s 20 billion and one ;)

It all began for him in 199Christian0 with a holiday job at the Neumünster carpet factory (= 1,200 marks), buying his first second-hand drum kit in Lübeck (arranged by his sister-in-law), then joining his brother’s band. Music is a family affair!

Christian’s musical influences are nothing short of staggering:
Kraftwerk, Paco de Lucía, Ernst Mosch, Miles Davis, Khruangbin, Ross Couch, Joachim Witt....

To find out what that all adds up to, you
absolutely must see him LIVE. Simply mind-blowing!!!

On another note: ...Christian’s hobby is collecting money – coins and banknotes, that is. If you’ve got any lying about, do pass them on.
